Narcan is a medication that can reverse overdose from opioids. It’s legal in all 50 states and available at all pharmacies without a prescription — though you can likely find some for free near you.

I first learned about it from a stranger on the internet, so maybe you’re learning about it now.

I’ve lost loved ones to drug overdoses and have found immense healing and community in harm reduction, or evidence-based practices and public health policies aimed at reducing negative social and physical harm associated with drug use.

I’m incredibly proud of my work as a volunteer street medic for Savage Sisters in Philadelphia, a women-run harm reduction outreach and sober housing non-profit where I helped with wound care, largely caused by the influx of Xylazine. I currently volunteer with a couple of different groups in Philly and am very passionate about mutual aid. If you’re in Philly and want to be more involved, drop a line.
